Apostille Services - Arizona Document Authentication for International Use

Need an apostille processed through the Arizona Secretary of State? Hazelnut Notary Services manages the submission process from start to finish — so you don't have to navigate it alone.

An apostille is an official certification attached to a document that verifies its authenticity for use in foreign countries that are members of the Hague Apostille Convention. If you are sending a birth certificate, marriage certificate, power of attorney, or other legal document abroad, the receiving country will almost certainly require an apostille before they will accept it.

Apostilles through the Arizona Secretary of State are available for two types of documents: Arizona-issued vital records (such as birth and marriage certificates), and documents that have been notarized by an Arizona-commissioned notary public — regardless of where those documents originated. A power of attorney drafted in New Jersey, for example, can be apostilled through Arizona as long as it is notarized by an Arizona notary. We manage the submission process from start to finish, including the notarization step when needed.

Does Your Document Need to Be Notarized First?

Not all documents require notarization before receiving an apostille. Arizona-issued vital records — birth certificates, death certificates, and marriage certificates — are certified public documents and can go directly to the Secretary of State for apostille processing without notarization.

The Arizona Secretary of State requires that documents submitted for an apostille either be certified public records or carry a valid notarization. If your document has not been notarized, that step must be completed first. The receiving party — whether a foreign embassy, government agency, or institution — can typically tell you exactly what they require, and an attorney can advise if you need further guidance.

Our Apostille Services — Standard & Urgent

We offer two service levels to match your timeline:

Standard Apostille Service — Arizona documents are submitted to the Arizona Secretary of State by mail. Standard mail-in processing takes approximately 3–4 weeks from submission date, plus shipping time. This service is best for clients whose timeline is flexible.

Urgent Apostille Service (7-Day Turnaround) — For time-sensitive situations, we offer an urgent apostille service using the Arizona Secretary of State's in-person walk-in expedite option. We personally deliver your documents to the Secretary of State's office in Phoenix and return them to you within approximately 7 business days. This service is ideal for travel deadlines, closing dates, visa applications, or any situation where time matters.

Documents from

Other States

One of the most common misconceptions about apostilles is that you must use the Secretary of State in the state where the document was created. That is true for vital records like birth and marriage certificates — those must be apostilled by the issuing state. But for notarized documents such as powers of attorney, affidavits, and legal agreements, the apostille goes through whichever state's notary performed the notarization.

This means that if you have a document that was prepared anywhere in the United States — or even abroad — and you need it notarized and apostilled, we can notarize it via our remote online notary (RON) service and then process the apostille through the Arizona Secretary of State. You never need to leave your home, and you get the benefit of our urgent 7-day turnaround option if your timeline requires it.

Because every out-of-state document situation is different, we do not offer online booking for this service. Instead, please complete the Apostille Service Request form below with your document details, destination country, and timeline. There is no cost to inquire — Robyn will review your information and follow up with a full quote, walk you through the process, and answer any questions before you commit to anything.
